Modernism and the persistence of tradition

We invite you to attend a lecture ‘Modernism and the persistence of tradition’ by prof. Jay Winter.

Jay Murray Winter is an outstanding American historian, professor of history at Yale University. The main subject of his research is World War I and its impact on the 20th century. The introductory speech will be given by prof. Piotr Juszkiewicz, the curator of the exhibition ‘New Beginning. Modernism in the Second Polish Republic’ at the National Museum in Krakow. After both speeches the audience will have a chance to take part in a discussion.

The lecture accompanies the exhibition ‘The New Begining. Modernism in the Second Polish Republic’ which is available at the National Museum in Krakow.

The lecture also refers d to the exhibition ‘After the Great War. New Europe 1918-1923’ presented by the ENRS since 2018 in many European cities. www.enrs.eu/afterthegreatwar.

The event is organised by European Network Remembrance and Solidarity, the International Cultural Center and the National Museum in Krakow. The lecture will be held in English with Polish translation.

The event will take place on 24 March at 5 PM at the International Cultural Center in Krakow.
