Debate Ukraine and the Borders of the West

The Polish History Museum invites you to its YouTube channel to watch a debate entitled Ukraine and the Borders of the West.

‘False history is the mistress of false politics’ claimed the classic of Polish historiography Józef Szujski in the 19th century. History, or rather historiographical myths, also reverberate in Russian justifications for the current aggression against Ukraine. The participants in the debate talk about the origins of the myths justifying the current Russian policy and describe the evolution of historical memory in the countries of the Ukraine-Lithuania-Belarus region over the last 30 years.

Participating in the debate are historians and experts on the topic: Prof. Andriy Portnov (European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder)), Prof. Tomasz Stryjek (Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences/Collegium Civitas, Warsaw), Prof. Alvydas Nikžentaitis (Lithuanian Institute of History, Vilnius) and Prof. Robert Frost (University of Aberdeen). The event is moderated by Prof. Michał Kopczyński from the Polish History Museum.

The debate is available in Polish, Ukrainian and English on the Museum’s YouTube channel and Facebook profile.
